We know there are many instances where you may have a limited amount of inventory available per day for particular products in your flytedesk account. For example, you may want to limit the availability of a back page ad to one per issue or limit the number of newsrack spots available based on the number of units your organization controls. With that in mind, we're so excited to announce the release of our new inventory tracking features! These improvements enable you to indicate available quantity for each product, view information about remaining inventory directly in the ad shop, and prevent your buyers from purchasing sold out products.
In your media kit, you'll find that each product variant is now associated with a unique code called a SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). You can use SKUs internally to track inventory and to uniquely identify specific products. Flytedesk will automatically generate SKUs for all new product variants, but you can change these at any time to whatever format is most useful to your organization. Learn more about SKUs
If you've indicated in your media kit that a product has limited available inventory, that information will now be reflected when booking that product in your Ad Shop. On the Ad Shop product page, hovering over a date will reveal how many units remain available on that day, how many you've selected, and how many are in your cart. If a product is sold out on a particular day, that day will appear in red on the date selector calendar.
Buyers browsing your Ad shop will now also be able to see which days have available inventory and which days are sold out. Buyers will be blocked from booking ads on a date that is sold out.
If you need to reschedule an ad after booking, no worries! You'll be able to see all the same inventory availability information that you can see when initially booking. Also, the availability will automatically adjust to account for any changes made by rescheduling ads.
